All Pool RSS feeds suddenly broken
|
Since today My RSS reader returns XML errors forr all my pool feeds. When I delete and readd the feed, things are working again.
Has the feed format changed? Do I really need to remove and re-add all my pool feeds?

Yup, they changed the addresss for the all the feeds to go through the new api.flickr.com address. Now, all feeds use the user/group NSid... previously group pools had their own unique address style.

Yeah, I couldn't find any sort of official mention. It broke my flickr plugin for WordPress.

The old group pool feed addresses used to let you use the address slug (rather than the nsid) in the feed address... I think that's what broke with the changeover.

The changeover was mentioned on the developer list. Time for me to join up.

I've just noticed this as well. It would have been better if the Flickr admins had set up an HTTP redirect on the old feed location to inform feed readers of the new location.

I noticed there was something up a few days ago when I began to see my feeds weren't updating. However, I had just come back from an extended bit of travelling overseas and as the last updates showed toward the end of July I thought it must have happened just after I'd departed. I had to go to every Group etc., check the Feeds URL and manually update it in my Feed Reader.
Problem was I use the Atom feeds and there was no button for them on the pages only the RSS feed (I'm sure there used to be one). Fortunately, my Feed Reader only needs the normal URL and if there are any Feeds on the page offers a choice, in this case both RRS and Atom to choose from. If it hadn't have been able to do that I would have had to go back to the RSS feeds and I prefer the tidier format of Atom.
