Plastic pellets
 |
Hello,
I'm doing Amineko, the crocheted cat, and the pattern ask for plastic pellets to fill the arms and legs. Can someone help me to find these pellets?
I'm from Portugal, and I looked for this kind of material in some stores but didn't find anything.
Thanks,

First, normally you don't have to follow instructions to the letter. You could just take polyfill.
Second, if you want the same feeling, you can use dry peas instead. That just works if your softie does not need to be washable, of course.

I get my materials from this website, www.christiebears.co.uk/acatalog/Fillings.html based in the UK. They have plastic pellets too. I get my poly-fill from there.

Thanks for you reply Fluxx.
I agree that we don t have to follow instructions by the letter, but in this case I want to add some weight to the arms and legs of Amineko. I don t think dry peas will be a good choice, because they are not washable. Did anyone ever use plastic pellets, or any similar material, in your amigurumis?

I use plastic pellets that I find in Jo Ann fabrics stores (I'm In Florida), you can buy them in Internet ( www.crscraft.com ). Mine are "poly pellets' from www.poly-fil.com , I did not find them anywhere and I was thinking to use those that are use for aquariums, are almost the same, somebody told me to used rice but I don't think is a good idea use something organic that can degrade.

Hi everyone. I'm curious about the plastic pellets. How do you keep them from coming out between the stitches? Are you all lining the inside of your Ami's? It might be that I am crocheting too loosly because I can sometimes even see the fiber-fill that I use to stuff them. Any tips about stuffing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Kim

I put mine in a stocking first, tie the stocking closed and then add that to the amigurumi. I use knee highs from the dollar store. It's easy to do but you could sew a little container for them out of any sort of fabric that would slip easily into the yarn arm.
