About 2008 Angkor Photography Festival Contest
The 2008 Angkor Photography Festival Flickr Contest
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR CHANGE
Siem Reap, Cambodia. Nov. 23rd – Nov. 28th 2008
As part of the 2008 Angkor Photography Festival we are holding another Flickr contest. Winner's work will be chosen by a panel of judges with the three top images winning photography books. Photographs can be added to our Flickr group www.flickr.com/groups/angkorphotofestival starting July 15th.
This year the contest is open images from around the world, no longer just Asia, but should fit the festival's theme of 'Photography for Change'. A limit of 5 images per photographer can be accepted and we are looking for photographs that help demonstrate the festival's humanitarian goals. All work must be in documentary or journalistic style, and no digitally manipulated images will be accepted.
The contest is only open to non-professional photographers. Anyone making more than 50% of their income from photography is considered a professional.
CONTEST RULES:
1). All images must be in documentary or photojournalist style, under the contest theme 'Photography For Change'.
2). Enter up to 5 images total.
3). Images entered in earlier contests will not be accepted.
4). Work that has been digitally altered, or uses excessive Photoshopping will be rejected. Standard photojournalism darkroom corrections are acceptable.
5) All images must be available on your Flickr page at a minimum 1024 x 768 points (horizontal or vertical) at 72 dpi, suitable for projection. Any images that are too small will be rejected.
6). If possible, please be sure photographs have caption information: who, what, where, when and why. There are no restrictions on when the photographs were taken.
7). Photographs will be judged by a panel of judges including professional photographers, editors and journalists. 50 contestants will be notified before the festival if their work has been accepted and the three top prize winners will be announced during the festival.
8). All photographs will remain the copyright of the photographer. However, by adding your work to the Group, you give permission to the Angkor Photography Festival to use your images for non-commercial promotional use, including both print media and internet/digital use by the Angkor Photography Festival. By submitting work, you also accept that the Festival can crop and correct your images to make them suitable for projection.
9). DEADLINE: October 31st, 2008. Contest opens July 15th at www.flickr.com/groups/angkorphotofestival
This year's festival will be held in Siem Reap, from November 23rd to November 28th, 2008.
Thank you and good luck!
