Hi all,

I really don't know...
I'm afraid to post....
I've got lots of pictures about piles of books..
But...
But I really don't know.
I'd like to keep my job in a public library.
But sometimes I'm doing strange things with books, with people...

If you can read dutch, you can read this here:
blogger.xs4all.nl/ritanila/archive/2007/03/07/189760.aspx

If you cannot.. I'll explain.
Select two groups of kids.
Give them a lot of second hand, old books.
Game is... to build the highest pile.
Winners can take a book home.

Or... another game we've played in Rotterdam, Netherlands..
Play the dominoday game with old books.
In the Netherlands every year it's a big show on television.
www.dominoday.nl/page/?item=informatie
On the site is info in english about the game.

But I don't know... maybe you're shocked too.
These beautiful books...

Greetings
Rita Niland

As a bookseller, I care about the physical welfare of most books, but there are some types which I would have no trouble seeing tumble down from your high piles. The common bestsellers, old text books, etc.: those books which were not intended to last. If they give some pleasure as toys before being recycled, that seems fine with me.
Although to help curb book abuse, perhaps a prefratory talk on discernment and taking care of books generally might be called for.
