I think that is the case. You can load it with backing paper and fire away.....

Set the multiple exposure lever so it is horizontal. Doing so will allow you to dry-fire the body without engaging the film advance gear.

Thanks Tony, that worked.
So many things to learn!
So far I'm liking it though. Can't wait to get the films into the darkroom...

You're welcome.
You have some beautiful photos in your stream. It'll be cool to see what you can do with the bronica.
Mine has convinced me to ditch my digital stuff. (not to incite a flame or anything, I just really love the process.)

Thanks. You do too.
Everything seemed alright, so I just loaded it up with some Ilford XP2 which I'll probably just shove in Rodinal anyway.
We shall see.

Ummm ... but you know that xp2 is C-41, not true black and white? You may get something useable with Rodinal, but it will be inferior to processing in C-41 chems.

Yeah, I know that - you might have seen my post at MSM. As it's an expired roll that I got for free though, I'm happy just to accept any results as proof the camera works properly.

With the multiple exposure lever set to horizontal and no film...should I be able to get all the shutter speeds to fire? It's only firing at one speed with that test (and battery check light shines red). Is there something else I should be doing? :) this is my first Bronica....Thanks! Oh...I have an SQ

You should be able to get all shutter speeds unless you have the AE prism attached, this puts the camera in aperture priority mode.
You would then get the same speed for the same aperture and light conditions. You can set the AE mode to off on the prism controls giving you full manual control.
If not it may be a faulty lens.

Thanks Damien....I have a prism , but not an AE. I think I'm just an idiot. :) Okay....so I took the back off and watched the shutter through the lens and it it's fine. :) I guess what I thought was the shutter was actually the flap of the mirror? :)

sproutgrrl: The shutter is inside the lens. The slap sound is actually the mirror locking against the ground glass. If you test fire with the lens removed, you can watch it do it's stuff. It's a good excuse to check the flocking around the mirror, too.

Remember to put the multiple exposure switch back before you start shooting with film or you'll end up with 15 photos all on frame one!
