A perfect combination for DOF shooting is the 5D with the superb Canon 24/1.4L - where depth of field can get very shallow indeed.
This combination yielded the following unusual perspective - it's the screw that holds the nose-cone onto an FA/18 Super Hornet, recently seen aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.
And to compliment the nose shot above - here's a tail shot with the same lens...

I like this one because the DOF blurs both the foreground and the background. Without a limited DOF, the subject would be completely lost.
