I used to get that quite a lot, but don't seem to anymore. (I know nothing however), someone will come a long with an answer for you soon I imagine.

Did you increase your exposure in post on either of these shots? I know that I get real bad banding issues at high ISO when I try to increase the exposure more than 1/2 stop or if I try to selectively under-saturate a given channel (above ISO 400). I don't see banding otherwise.

No, all settings were standard, exposure correction set to 0, but thanks for the hint

The high ISO IQ is one of the features that makes the 5D such a sweet camera. What do you mean don't shoot at high ISO?

I think that particular lens has been cited as contributing to banding in some select cases. I personally don't know how widespread the problem is, but I'm sure you can find more online if you Yahoo! or Google it. You may also be experiencing some radio interference. You don't happen to have a TDMA/GSM cell phone, do you (i.e. T-Mobile, AT&T, Nextel)?
And yes, even a Ferarri can go 180 MPH, but that doesn't mean you should do it all of the time. There's a time and a place for everything. I don't know if I've ever shot at ISO 3200, and only black & white images at ISO 1600.

It's actually two lenses - 70-200 f/4 and 50 1.4
It could be radio interference, but I always have a GSM phone, but it was not too close to the camera and transmitting anything at the particular moment of shooting - it has been a couple of hours between the shots.
I understand the stuff about ISOs, always trying to keep it as low as possible, and shooting at ISO3200 was just because I wanted to test of banding would become heavier - it did.

Yeah, I have a AT&T phone and have not had a problem with interference or banding. When I have seen banding it does not look regular and repeating like what you show here. I think you should give Canon a call and get to the bottom of your problem.
