Which group should I join? In which should I participate?

I am not sure what the difference is between the many groups which have a focus on these kinds of structures:
Palaces, Castles, Towers, Pagodas, Fortresses And Ruins of Old

Castles - Castillos

Castles from the world.

Fortress of the World

How do I pick which one to join? I find it confusing to have so many similar groups at Flickr that I would rather find the clear leader or most appropriate group and only join that one.
I realize groups can have their own subtle perspectives on a subject, but for this to be effective this subtlety needs to be clearly explained and submissions closely regulated to keep this unique perspective.
Has anyone tried to distinguish between these groups. Can anyone explain their unique niches? Are people too lazy to search for a group to see whether one exists before creating their own? Do people just want to create something of their own whether or not it contributes something to the community?

No kidding. I have had the same thoughts, not that I know what to do about it. I had to join this group to reply, but the name seems a little long-winded. It wouldn't surprise me if people in fact did create new groups on a whim without checking what's already there. And I wish people would proofread... too much to ask of artists, maybe...

Just did a search through the groups for the word castles and since this group showed up first it seems the logical choice :)

Yes I think people do create groups without checking. That said I think there may be differences, in theory anyway.
This group covers a much wider field including religious and residential buildings. The last group could be concentrating on military structures without a necessary residential component and up to the present day.
