About Take a class with Dave & Dave

Welcome to the Take a class with Dave & Dave group. Please note that this group is currently not open to new members. We will add new members over time, but want to keep the group to a manageable size. HOWEVER, we have created a spin-off group where you can work on the same assignments. Check it out here!

REGARDING NEW MEMBER SELECTION: Any new members added to this group will be done via invitation to members of the Audit group referenced in the link above. So, if you are not a member of the Audit group, join them and get active! They are a great group of people and you will have a great time and learn a lot. And, you will be eligible to join this group when there is a calling for new members!

This group started on January 11, 2007 -- the first night of my first photography class (Digital Photo 1). I thought it would be fun to share the weekly assignments with a small group of Flickr friends. Here's how it works:

1. Each week, on Tuesday night, we will give you the assignments. There will be two assignments each week (there used to be 3...and there were 4 in Week 1).

2. Your first job is to upload one photo for each assignment before 9:00 PM Mountain time on Tuesday. Only ONE! Once the cutoff is reached, you will not be allowed to add photos to the pool. NOTE: Photos MUST be taken after the assignments are given. The point here is NOT to find old photos that you can use. ALSO please note that a single photo may only be used for one assignment.

3. Your second job is to comment on other photos in the pool. There are no strict rules, but this is NOT a group where you can just dump your photos and leave. If you choose not to comment at all, I'll ask you to leave the group.

4. As of Week 4, the assignments are no longer coming out of a class that I'm taking (the class is over). Instead, I will be taking turns with Protagonist (my original instructor, and also a Dave) making up new assignments.

Let's try to fill this pool with good stuff!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I'd really like to encourage constructive criticism in this group. If you see something that you think could be improved, just say it! It doesn't mean you're right...it's just an opinion.

ONE LAST THING: Just in case this wasn't obvious...I am not claiming to be any kind of "teacher" here...I'm just going to try to pass along what I learn and, most importantly, provide the assignments. Aside from that, I'll be a member of the group just like everyone else. However, Protagonist is an instructor, so you should listen to what he has to say. :-)
