I have posted a new topic like 1.5 week ago about cracks in my macbook. People said to me that it would be fixed under warranty because it is a known production mistake at Apple.
After I was sure it would be fixed under warranty I went to the store and they accepted it without any problems and they said it would take like a week to fix it, without any costs.
Oke well, next thing happened. Today an employee from the Apple store in my city called me and said there was a little problem, he told me the bottom case wasn’t protected by the warranty and he said it would cost me €185 (!!! ) to fix it.
I asked him why it wasn’t protected by warranty, but he couldn’t really answer me.
Oke well, I was pretty pissed off at that moment and called to the Apple service centre. The people there told me that the store where I hand in my macbook, isn’t an official hand in point!!- they just sent it to another company what is an official hand in point- and the Apple service centre told me to tell that service point it would be all fixed under warranty.
And that it would be better if that service point called the Apple service centre.
I’m not quite sure why I had to tell them that, but ok.
well, I called that service point and the guy there was like '' yeah, well I'm sure we can't fix it under warranty, so I have no idea what to do. and I don’t want to call to Apple because that will take like 30minutes or so and that cost us money and time.''
Great! I said goodbye to that guy and called the Apple service centre again and told them the 'official' hand in company wasn’t willing to call Apple. the woman who was helping me said she was going to try to change some things in her system and that I had to wait a moment, 20 minutes later she came back on the phone again and she told me that the bottom case wasn’t covered by the warranty BUT she trusted me on my word that I didn’t drop the macbook. and she said she was adding some code to the order of the replacement so it would be fixed without any costs.
Of course that is very nice of her, and I appreciate it but what I don’t understand is how the top case is protected by warranty, but the bottom case isn’t. that’s just kinda weird isn’t it? I mean, if there is a whole corner missing of your macbook it is pretty obvious it has been dropped or something, but when there are little cracks appearing and they are like everywhere, and there are pretty much people with the same problem...then there should be no discussion, right?!
what I am wondering about now, are there more people who had the same problem?
I would like to what you people think about this all!
thanks
