for something simplier, this site has a cute idea of making the cupcakes look like balloons:
jas.familyfun.go.com/recipefinder/display?id=50101
do they have to be teacher themed? if not you could just make them all look like pretty flowers, as in giving flowers as a thank you. or if you want to go the teacher theme route, each cupcake could have a cute check plus on it. the frostings can be in bright colors and the check plus in black fondant or icing.

Clever - I loooved this set of cupcakes! They are gorgeous but it looks like they took forever! Did you hand form/cut each one?
Kristin: They kinda do have to be teacher themed.
Can't do the balloons because they are to be individually boxed (yet another dilema! I bought individual boxes with inserts from www.brpboxshop.com but they took forever to assemble & wrap with ribbon. This time, I am looking at chinese take out food containers instead as they come pre-assembled.
The only problem is that the cupcakes wobble around inside of the take out boxes. Does anyone have a solution for this? I tried mini marshmallows but it didn't really help....
Ooh, I love the idea of the check plus (or A plus, like clever's)! I think 110 of those would be easier than 110 apples, stems & leaves, don't you?
Perhaps white fondant papers with the A plus or check mark using food markers in red?

you could use tissue paper in the boxes to stop the cupcake moving around.

i actually individually boxed the teacher appreciation cupcakes. brpboxshop had send me the wrong inserts so i used tissue paper like cupcakes & cartwheels suggested in the bottom of the box to keep the cupcakes from moving around. it worked really well! i am sure the same thing would work with the chinese take-out boxes.
i do hand form all my fondant decorations, and yes those did take some time :)

Cupcakes & cartwheels (what a cute name!), thanks, I'll try it.
Clever, you've inspired & motivated me & I'll rise to the occasion & hand mold all the tops & stuff tissue in the bottom of my take out containers & post it here when I'm done (but you'll have to wait until mid-May!!)
Thank you :))). PS love your stuff!

I always make these for teacher appreciation, they are super easy and the teachers get a kick out of them. it's just red buttercream, with marshmallow fondant leaf and stem (super easy to make), and gummy worms. When you are trying to make them for 100 + teachers, easy is good. have fun with whatever you do!!! Teachers rock :^)

Cupcakeit - they are AWESOME! If i were a teacher, a box of those would totally make up for any misbehaviour during the year!

Cupcake it - these are adorable!! Love them! Did you dome the buttercream to make it look rounded?

Thanks guys....Dot, I didn't really dome it, just made it about an inch thick and took my offset and ran it around the outside to kind of round it off. I will go through my pix and see if I have one that is kind of a side view, that would probably be more helpful.

Dot...here is a side view of the apple, it is a crappy picture, but I think it shows the side good enough.

the most clever single cupcake transport I have seen is a lidded upside down plastic cup - like a takeout juice cup. (A clear 20oz cup with a flat lid, place the cupcake on the upside down lid then attach the cup over it like a cake dome.) I couldn't find any pictures online but I hope my description captures it.

dots treats...110 cupcakes to decorate didn't sound so bad when you had to do them. now i have an order for 90 coming this monday and i am starting to feel your pain :) these ones are for high school teachers so i am going to try to change them up a bit.

I finished this job last week and wanted to share a picture. I took your advice and put them in chinese take out food containers, and stabilized the cupcakes with a napkin. The teachers were thrilled.

Thanks for all of your help! :)
