I highly recommend everyone in this group reads “The World Without Us” by Alan Weisman. If you’re reading this posting then you’re obviously interested in the physical ruins of man, and how they age in a natural setting - untouched by man. The book, while tedious at times to read, not only goes discusses the present state of structures and how they’ll perform amidst a future without man, but it also gives us the historical context from which they came.
Speaking of historical context; If I shoot a site in-depth and post a set, my goal will be to supply the reader with as much background information on each location as I can (when available, I’m starting to include historical images for reference as well). This allows for a more cohesive and contextual learning experience for everyone else. After all, how else can we truly appreciate what’s remaining if we don’t know what it stood for?
