Hola
I'm Ron and am cetainly an amateur where digital is concerned. I live in Blackpool England and I work at a nuclear power station about 70 minutes drive away.
My camera is a Werlisa 4.0 mega pixel. I do have some old 35mm SLRs which are stored away.
I spend a lot of time looking at other people's photos and often comment on them. I appreciate constructive critisism and love praise :)

Hi hi, I'm Kate, currently going to uni in San Francisco for photojournalism & anthropology. I shoot with the Canon Digtal Rebel (almost exclusively with a 17-40mm lens) and a variety of cheap-ass film cameras. Hope everyone is well! :]

Salut, I'm Andréa and live in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. I have two cameras: a Nikon Coolpix L6 (that I love and use all the time because I can put it in my pocket), and the old family Minolta circa early-1980s (that I haven't used since I got the Nikon for Christmas). I'm taking some time off from work, so I'm very much enjoying my walks around SJ, which translates into taking a whack of pictures.

Hi Jacob et al,
I am just starting to put my toe into the vast ocean of photography, and have been having a blast at it so far. I currently use a Sony Cybershot DSC-H2, but I am looking into purchasing a DSLR because, well, I am quite frankly addicted to photography and would like a camera with more flexibility.
I am enamored with doors/windows so I am happy to add my pics here when I come across those that are decaying, which I hope to do soon as I live in the Detroit area and hope to get downtown for a photo shoot of decrepit buildings. Great group!

Hi everyone!
Just joined. I'm so glad I found this group - I think I'm boring everyone else with my obsession with doors and windows :)
I shoot with a Canon EOS350D (and occasionally a Fuji Finepix for the 'camera which will fit in your pocket' moments). I'm based in Leamington Spa, UK, which is currently providing plenty of inspiration!

Hey,
I'm Tom from the Chicago area. I enjoy photography and have been attracted to old barns for some time, but have only lately begun photographing them. There are a lot of doors and windows on these barns that have seen better days, so this is a great place to share (and view) these old things.
I've been using a Fuji S5100 but have finally upgraded to a Nikon D40.

Hello Everyone,
My name is David and I live in Manchester, MI USA.
Gabrielle- I went to school at CCS in Detroit. Believe me, there are lots of decrepit windows and doors to image. Have fun.
I have a Canon S320 for my pocket, a Canon S50 for my snapshots and macros, and a Ricoh SLR ca.1975 film camera for portraits, zoom, astrophotography, and anytime I want a really rich picture.
I am a product designer by profession, but I love to document my environment with photography.

Hey,
I'm Alex and I live in Berlin (GER). Mostly I'm using my Sony DSC-W5, but I'm changing frequently. I'm an amateur in terms of photography, thus I will need some time to develop my skills.
I like to travel, why you'll find many pics shot at many different places across Europe.

I'm André. I live in Valleyfield. That's in Quebec, a little west of Montreal. I have been using a Canon G3 ( 4 megapixels) for the last 4 years, but I'm seriously thinking of going DSLR and I find the Nikon D80 very tempting.
I have used a 35 mm film camera since the 1970's and also some 6 x 6 cameras. All are now retired and boxed securely. I sold all my darkroom material a few years ago when paper and film got too expensive.
I love digital photography and take pictures of almost everything, from flowers to people to scenery to ... broken down windows.
I hope to receive positive critics and I will be glad to offer mine.

Hello! I´m Diana, lastly from Seattle, WA now living in San Cristóbal de las Casas, México. I have tons of subject matter here for this group. I shoot now with a Nikon D50, but I prefer to shoot B&W with an old Minolta. I sadly had to leave it behind at my Mom´s, but we will be reunited this summer, and I found a darkroom here in SC to work in!

Hi, all - I'm Scott, in Pennsylvania. There's a slew of old buildings and churches around here; trouble is finding time to shoot! I'm using mainly these days an old Graflex Super Speed Graphic with 135/4.7 Optar, shooting B&W and color 4x5. When not that, a whole host of TLRs, Yashica and Rollei, and the odd old 35mm. Sorry, no digital. ;^)

Hello,
I am Cheryl from rural Northern Minnesota and I am new to Flickr. My current camera is a Kodak Easy Share Z612. I've been drawn to broken down buildings in my area, especially their window decay (the combo of broken glass, bits of different colored paint, wood in various stages...) since childhood in the 60's and 70's. I would take an "old fashioned" photo here and there over the years and often thought of compiling them but never have. Becasue there are so many excellent photos here, I consider this site a true gold mine and I have enjoyed using a lot of my free time studying all your very interestingly beautiful windows from around the world.
Thanks so much.

Hello people,
Guy here, from Wirral (near Liverpool) in north-west England.
Didn't realise I had penchant for old doors & windows until I examined the evidence on my return from a summer holiday in southern France - and then another in Italy.
Do I need help?!!!!
I currently use a Minolta A2 and trying to resist the call of a D-SLR.
Really looking forward to exploring the group - and doing some B&W work.

Hi there I'm Catherine and normally live in Oxford, UK. Nice to 'meet' you all. As usual I am working away at present and have had the (unusual) opportunity to come to Ottawa - not seen too many doors and windows in decay here yet though... My camera is old and I have just been told needs to be replaced because smart cards are no longer available! It is- or was a Ricoh RR120- any thoughts on good but not too expensive cameras greatly received...

Hi all, I'm from the Wirral (near Liverpool, UK), I'm a 19 year old Geography uni student in Sheffield.
My father (Dr Guy: www.flickr.com/photos/45367588@N00/ ) discovered a niche for old windows and doors so I've been on the look-out for old doors for him when on family holidays. Recently, though, I've found myself keeping a subconscious eye out for them to shoot myself, now that I've taken my interest in photography a little further.
My current camera is a Canon Powershot A170 IS, which I love! Please comment crtically, I love improving my photos and getting feedback of any kind, thanks!

Hi, Chris V from Austin, Texas, here. I've been a photography enthusiast since the late 1970s, and urban decay, rust & rot has always fascinated me, for both the textures and the history. I owned a Pentax K-1000 for almost 20 years, and sold it recently to finance a portion of my new Nikon D50, which I love beyond description. I work on Austin's "East side," which provides me ample opportunities for shooting old buildings, and am trying to find the time to stop now at all the places I've driven past, meaning to stop for the last ten years. I've submitted 3 shots to the pool, hopefully the admins will deem them worthy. :-)

Hello, I'm Mike from Toronto Canada. I use a Nikon D80 and I think of myself as an ADD photographer, my subject matter is all over the map which might account for why I like flickr so much. I have a few fave themes that I keep coming back to, and the frame of an old door or window is certainly one of them. It is great to find a group that shares a favorite subject matter of mine. I hope to submit more images that can match that of the fine images I have seen here.

I love animals and photography more than people. Digital photography has saved me thousands of dollars from burning up film with lousy photos.

Hi! My name's Ulrich and I'm from Germany. Doors and windows are one of my favorite motifs. Maybe because they are some kind of secrets. You never know what's behind, and I'd love to know who has passed them or looked through them over the years. I think that taking pictures of doors and windows is kind of difficult. How to crop the image, what to show, what to leave away sometimes really is a hassle...
Looking forward to learning from you all!

Greetings, all!
I'm Darrell. I live in Schoolcraft, Michigan (the village in Southwest Michigan, not the county in the Upper Peninsula). I work as a transportation planner, and spend a lot of time dealing with transportation aesthetics, non-motorised transportation, economic development, and downtown improvements.
I work with a Canon PowerShot S3 IS along with a few lens attachments and filters. I'm particularly fond of photographing lighthouses, bridges, historical markers, and neon signs, but shoot anything that strikes my fancy at the time.
Peace, everyone!

Hello! :-)
My name is Rosy and I'm from Santos [a city of São Paulo, Brasil]. I simply love photography, even though I consider myself just an amateur photographer. My favorite themes are architectural details, buildings in decay and old things in general - so I needed to join this group. ;-)
I'm used to Sony DSC-S80 digital camera, but sometimes I get pictures from Sony Ericsson w300i cell.
Cheers to everyone,
ROSY

I'm 'Kicks'. I'm in New Orleans. I have an unlimited amount of doors and windows in decay to photograph. After Hurricane Katrina I started taking photos as if my life depended on it. I took over 5,000 photos of the destruction in the year after the storm. Some were published in the book Signs of Life. Once I was over the shock of the destruction I started seeing art in destruction. Notice, I didn't say 'beauty', I said art. I started to compose my photos and not just take snap shots. I did many of just doors or windows. Maybe you'll be interested in seeing some of my photos here.

Hi folks!
I'm Ivan from Russia (smiley).
I don't think that camera choise means much for an art photography, but if it does matter for someone, my shots are taken generally with OLYMPUS e-300. Doors is my old and incurable sickness.

Hello everyone! My name is Peter and I live in Niagara Falls, Canada. I'm currently using a Nikon D200, and my primary lens is the Nikon 18-200 VR. I've also just picked up the Nikon 10.5 mm fisheye that I hope to take some great shots with.
In my travels on my motorcycle I like to stop at old shacks and buildings, and it's through that sort of activity that I stumbled upon this old schoolhouse, the reason why I've joined this group.

Hello. I'm from Burlington.... not far from Peter Aka: pbeens (see above) I work as a commercial artist/designer and I've recently discovered photography as a creative outlet. I'm interested in finding the unique, the unusual and the often overlooked in everyday scenes to hopefully tell an interesting story... you've probably never heard of anyone trying to that right?.... :)

Hello,
I'm Gabrielle from Paris, France. I am a translator but I love to take pictures with the camera my parents had the great idea to give me a few years ago for Xmas (Canon Ixus 500). I've had ups and downs with photography (depending on the state of the cameras I had) since I was approximately 10 years old. The arrival of this digital camera was truly a rebirth in many ways! I have always been fascinated by decay and the popular neighborhoods of Paris where I have always lived are a good place for that.

Hello windows and door lovers,
I'm hildA from Belgium, assemblage artist. I like to look around and discover details in everything that surrounds me, now I have this small new tool in my life to capture them : Canon Ixus 75. I know it is tiny, but I'm only an amateur.

I live in Aylesbury, in the UK. I shoot with a variety of cameras, a Sony DSC-R1 digital, Toyo 45A 4x5, Mamiya C220 TLR and a variety of 35mm Canon cameras. Decaying windows and doors have always facinated me. I only came across this group today.

Hey! I'm Ingrid, and I live in Hoboken NJ (just outside NYC). My favourite camera is my Nikon F100, but I recently bought a Panasonic DMC-TZ3...not a big fan of digital, but lots of you seem to be doing ok with it, so I'll give it a go!

Hi,

Hi,
Rob here from Bristol UK. I've had a Olmpus E-500 for a couple of years now, I really enjoy photography but just can't get into the nack of always having a camera with me.
I find decaying doors fascinating, I could spout some cr*p about why I do, but I just do.

Hello,
Parry from Quad Cities, Illinois. I am a recent member. I joined to find a place to share my pictures and to see and enjoy all of the other works available in this group. Decaying architecture is so full of character. It shows the passing of time and the effects of the elements. Pictures of doors and windows have been a consistent interest since I can remember.
My current camera is a Canon A620, 7.1mp. It shoots decent pictures and I like that it's compact and I can grab it when I see something interesting. I know I will eventually upgrade to DSLR but for now I'm just shooting and learning.
