Yesterday 40 Faves, today 39? Can that happen?

I added this pic to the 40+ faves pool yesterday, when it posted with 40 faves. Today when I looked at it, it was at 39. Is that possible?

Another possibility is that a user who faved your picture is no longer active on flickr. You keep his comments (with an indication of Deleted) but any faves are gone.
