Yeah, it's broken, but for a simple reason:
on line 113, you try to replace "says" with something. Obviously, in the other languages, it's not written "says" :D

super work by mortimer? who improved this script to support non-english users and localized it to French, English, Italian and Portuguese! you can update by uninstalling the old script and install the new version by clicking the link above.
anyone want to help out translating "name reply" & "icon reply" labels please drop me a line :)

Help!!! Any chance of getting the old version back, this new one doesn't work for me. Everybody's info is "undefined" and it only returns my own name or icon.
The old version worked fine, how can I go back?

the latest one works fine for me in latest Firefox and Greasemonkey. I have added the link to the older version above if you absolutely have to roll back.
your browser might cache the script, so after uninstalling it, try clearing your browser's cache before clicking on the link above to install again :)

doc18, your Buddy Icon Reply script is really cool!
I hacked it a bit for my personal use, to have the reply in the form I presently use:
<a href="[userlink]"><img src="[buddyicon]" height="24" width="24" alt="[username]"></a> Thanks, <a href="[userlink]"><b>[username]</b></a>!
I really don't have the time to take care of this little project, and I hate to leave orphans: if you want to include it into your "official" script, I'll be very happy to give you the source.
BTW, the Italian translation in your script must be corrected in rispondere con l'icona, but you can shorten omitting the article (legal, in Italian) in rispondi con nome and rispondi con icona.

I have been using this script for a while and it is excellent. I started adding blockquote tags around quoted text and now I have finally got arount to tweaking the script to do it automatically. If you have text selected in the comment box the icon or name plus selected text will be blockquoted. If no text is selected you just get the icon or name as before. For example: Omg, this is awesome.
Here is my modified script with edit in bold

Any idea what the problem is with my use of this script?? I installed it just as instructed, it is listed in my "user scripts" box, but it does NOT show up on my Flickr page???
HELP! I'm also having difficulty with a few other scripts.
Can someone please help me with steeev's greasemonkey scripts???
These scripts are awesome -- I had several and they were all functional one day, but gone the next. (i.e., steev's group organizer, group tracker and contact organizer).
I put a lot of time into tagging my groups and contacts. For a reason unknown or understood by me, everything is gone even though these scripts still show up under the greasemonkey tools.
For several days I tried to get them back -- Finally I uninstalled each one and then re-installed them. Still nothing!?
How can I get these great tools to work properly??

ScorpionRising Just to start from the basics... make sure the little monkey face in the lower right hand corner of your browser is in color and smiling. I've noticed that grease monkey doesn't volunteer the information that it has been deactivated when installing, updating or removing scripts. next step would be if you have any other plugins running? there are a lot of plug ins that are poorly tested and some may just conflict with grease meonkey.

: Absolutely LOVE the Buddy Icon Reply! It's working perfectly on my notebook now. And I've had several people ask me how it's done, so I just direct them to your script! Of course, they all enjoy it as well.
The only problem I am having is not with your script, it is with greasemonkey! (Please see my comment below.) Any ideas?
: Thanks again for your help. Unfortunately, it keeps happening! And I don't know what to do . . .
The Problem: For some reason, unknown to me, I lose the little monkey and thus lose the use of my scripts. They are all still there -- The scripts, that is. But greasemonkey is continually getting disabled. It's easily fixable, but it's a real pain.
And now, it's causing me a NEW PROBLEM:
I use "steeev's" contacts tagging script, which I LOVE as well. Unfortunately, every time I lose the monkey I lose all of my tags and they can not be recovered. It's seems I've lost my contact tags several times before, but I don't know for sure if that's a separate problem or if it only happens when greasemonkey is disabled.
How in the world does greasemonkey become disabled???
ANYONE?? Will you try to help me out, please?

I was really excited about using this flickr hack as I didn't know how everyone was making this work and felt as if I was the last one to the pah-tay. Anyway, when I downloaded this about a week ago I discovered that happened when I clicked either the 'name reply' or 'icon reply
links, so I'm going to uninstall it and try reinstalling it now and see what happens. My fingers are crossed.
Meanwhile perhaps someone can tell me if something is up???
Cheers!

: I posted a message earlier that this script didn't work and I read through this loooong text and found your message that it was due to a Flickr PM conflict.
It seems this is true, because I disabled Flickr PM and the script began working immediately. Well, I certainly would like BOTH to be working and not one or the other. But I suppose I could enable and disable according to which task I'm needing at the time.
Is or will there be a fix to this bug?
Thanks muchly!

Make sure you are using the most recent version of these scripts. There are some older ones out there. Flickr does make page changes which will cause conflicts / problems.
#2
I had the same problem mybluemuse. I did some playing with the scripts and found that they will both work as long as Flickr PM is installed before Flickr Buddy.
So, Re-install Buddy after you read this. That should fix it..
At some point, I had updated PM and that's when my problem started. They work fine for me now.

Yesterday I installed this and it is having clash with flickr PM in comments area. Earlier I used to see mail icon, profile, FS FD INT etc. now this took over. This happens in comments section of my photos. However I could see "name reply, Icon reply" along with above list when a member profile is pressed or in group threads it is present. Only missing it in comments portion. :(

does anyone know if flickr actually implemented this as maybe a beta test a few weeks ago? I saw these options on my comments one day and the next day they were gone. i poked around a little bit but didnt find anything. so i just now did a little googling and found this thread. i had no idea it was a gm script, and i know i didnt install it back when i first saw it (the only gm scripts i've ever run are for gmail stuffs).
anyway, just curious if anyone knows how i could have seen this without having the script installed...

coool script! v3 does indeed contain some really comfortable and clever new features! thank you verymuch!
i have already had this script included in some "better flickr"-addon in my firefox, but today i had the idea to deactivate that one and get it as a stand-alone greasemonkey script. reason: only this enabled me to have a look at the script itself, roughly figure out the contents of the script, and reconfigure the appearance of it (and some other scripts). i found this "name reply / icon reply" too long and too big, especially a bit annoying in combination with those not any less annoying looooong screenames. LOL and i preferred the slash instead of the comma:

(oh and the screenshot shows as well how i edited the "flickrPM" script a bit, getting rid of options i do not need and of those bold typed brackets. in case someone wondered)
thank you very much for programming! =)
