Bah, Nintendo sucks. So does Sony and Microsoft, but if I had a choice, I'd go with the 360.

Apparently Revolution is going to let you download all the Nintendo games from all the Nintendo consoles for the past 20 years. Talk about backward compatibility =) Sony has Final Fantasy and Pro Evolution Soccer while the XBox has some pretty decent RPGs and FPSs. If I had a choice I'd own all 3 of them. Haha.

the 360. I love Live and how it's set up. A good thing. That Revolution thing sounds cool because it might be a gateway to getting the fiance to game some since a lot of the older Nintendo games are a lot less complicated than the games of today AND it would be so freakin' cool to play Rock n' Roll Racing again.

Revolution. So far VERY few games exclusive to the Xbox have been fun for me.
The Gamecube didn't get a whole lot of decent RPGs, though. Might get a PS3 down the line for that.

I would love to have all 3 but I will go with the PS3 because of its power its going to be more powerful then the xbox 360 and little is known about the Revolution but if you like NINTENDO then its your system and if you like online gaming then go with the 360 and if you like DOA or Halo and Halo 2 then go with the 360 in other words if there a game that is only on that platform go with that system

From the looks of things, the 360 and the PS3 will have the most to offer during the next round of console wars. I think Nintendo is probably going to be forced out of the console game during this next round. I'd love for them to survive, but they are pretty far behind so far and I don't see downloading retro games as enough of a selling point to save them.
I'll probably buy the 360 and PS3.

I think it will be the downloading retro games that will keep them in the game I think alot of gamers will get a Revolution and one of the other two. See that 20 years of gaming that you can download so that brings 20 years of gamers back out of exile so to speck people who grow up on the nes and snes n64 may come out and buy one to play the games they know and love. I don't care which system has more "power." I care about which system has the best, most compelling games.
To that end, it'll be at least another year or two before the dust settles and we can get a handle on who's got the strongest developer lineup and the best development tools.
Until then, I'll just keep plugging away on my Gamecube/PS2/Mac/PSP/GBA/DreamCast/whatever I'm in the mood for, rather than engaging in silly fanboy discussions about what platform is potentially better.

It's all about the games. Nintendo has been the only platform that I would buy the most games for, but I'm not going to buy any next-gen systems since I don't play much games these days. I just don't have the time anymore.

All of them. I will buy the Xbox 360 and both Revolution and PS3 when they come out or shortly after. I have all 3 system in this generation and can't imagine not having all of them in the next. I'm an adult, its my money, its worth it.

Sure the retro games are cool, but they are already available on the current generation consoles. The next generation consoles will blur the lines between reality and gaming and will provide a more immersive experience. Hopefully the large developers like EA don't end up pushing all of the innovative developers out of the race so that we can see some amazing NEW games (and style of games) in the future.
I mean we can't continue with only sports, first person shooters, a smattering of platformers and stealth games. There has to be something new on the horizon - because there really hasn't been anything new lately.
As far as retro games are concerned, how many units did the midway or namco "arcade treasure" titles sell? Was it enough to sustain an entire company? If that is all that Nintendo is banking on, the revolution is not going to do so well.

"If that is all that Nintendo is banking on, the revolution is not going to do so well."
That is obviously not all that Nintendo is counting on, and it's ridiculous to presume otherwise.
It is, however. one of the few substantive things the company has said about the Revolution, so it's what's been written most about in the press. But the company is keeping its cards close to its vest. What Nintendo *is* saying is that it's more interested in content than it is in features.

So what content have they described or indicated it will support? Nothing other than retro games that can be downloaded.
The biggest display Nintendo had at E3 had nothing to do with the Revolution. They demo'd their new mini handheld and in their video room they had another Zelda title.
As much as I hate to admit it, they are probably going to be out of the running in this next race. I'm not trying to start any wars, but to claim that Nintendo is "keeping their cards close to their vest," as opposed to regognizing and admitting that the only info that Nintendo has released is the retro aspect, is a little like putting your head in the sand and willing them to survive.
You will also note that I said "IF" that's what Nintendo was relying on they would not survive. I was certainly not presuming that it would be the only thing the Revolution will offer nor do I think it will be. In fact, the gamecube can run graphic circles around the PS2 yet its still the infant little brother to Sony's PS2 and Microsoft's Xbox.
Time will also be the killer here. I imagine that Nintendo hasn't released any other specs for their system because they aren't that close to actual development. They have talked about one aspect that will appeal to all of the gamers who grew up with Nintendo titles but they haven't released any other details. Unless they get to it right away, Sony and Microsoft will be close to releasing the PS4 or the Xbox (uh... 720? ;-) ) before they get around to releasing the revolution.
Nintendo has done some great things in years past. This time around, however, I don't think they will be doing so well with their console. Their titles will remain strong (probably and hopefully) but I think they are going to have a tough time overcoming the PS2 and 360 this time around.
Of course, I could be wrong. Lets hope Nintendo sets aside some of its pride and gets back into the race. :-)

Unfortunately I'm not the only one who thinks that Nintendo is not going to be a big player this go around:
www.bizarreonline.net/index.php?action=fullnews&showc...
"Its platform transition time again - that period that keeps game development fresh and exciting! We have all the rules & limitations we're accustomed to working with changed as the new generation of game's consoles hit the scene. As I'm sure you're aware, the two big players this time around are Microsoft's Xbox 360, and Sony's PlayStation 3. The 360 will see a 2005 release date, whilst the PS3 is rumoured to be available in Spring 2006 (although typically these dates will change)."
Unfortunately there is no mention of the Revolution. :-(

If any - i'd go for a ps3. For the new Metal Gear and Final Fantasy games alone.
I've played the 360 and it's alright but none of the games released so far have caught my eye.
The revolution will be good but the back catalogue thing is a bit iffy.... depends how much they charge per game i suppose

Possibly the PS3, just becuase all of the console games I have are for PS. But it depends on the price. I heard it's going to be at least €650 (in Ireland) and thats just too much (plus €75 per game). I prefer the PC anyway. I do visit the Xbox Live (shop / arcade) in town (Dublin) and those consoles / games are pretty impressive. So not sure really, will have to test and compare 3 next gen's in 1 day and decide.

Nice find and interesting comments from me back then. After E3, I'm thinking that the 360 and the Wii will end up trumping the PS3 this time around. But I'll say that with a bit of hesitation since the Sony marketing machine (which seems to be falling as of late) has done wonders with the PS2 notwithstanding its own set of problems. I still disagree that selling a gaming console for $600 simply as a way to push Blu-Ray technology as a good thing. I'm holding off on getting one as a result. When the price drops I may pick one up, but I'm a little disappointed so far. With so little launch titles and none of them really blowing me away, I can afford to wait.

The Wii, and eventually I'd love to pick up a 360. I guess then I'll be part of the "Wii360" movement, as Microsoft described it.
