Composition Techniques in the Group Pool
 |
To share and develop our collective understanding and experiences of Golden Rectangular composition, how about...
• Choosing a photo in this group's pool that is not by yourself.
• Putting a medium-sized linked version of the image in this thread [see below].
• Commenting on which aspects of its composition reflect the Golden Ratio proportions and why you like it.
The creator of an image that has been commented on may want to make a response within the thread.
How to put linked images into the thread
• Go to the image's main page
• Click on the 'All Sizes' button
• Click on the 'Medium' available size
• Copy the HTML code in the last textbox, at the bottom of the page.
• Paste the code to the top of your comment on this thread.

So, I guess I'll start...
'Golden Rectangle with Stairs' by Infinite Jeff

I feel that this image illustrates Golden Ratio composition very well.
The handrail in the photo is placed at the main golden ratio dividing line. The two men fill out the left-hand square and the two women fill the smaller square to the top-right.
The women's feet sit on roughly the dividing line between the smaller square and the adjacent rectangle.
I also like this image because I can feel the movement across the picture, both upward (the men) and downward (the women). Well done, IJ.
Phew! Terminology could be tricky describing this stuff! Anyone else fancy a go?
