YES!!! I love hijiki. My salad specialty actually.
Ok, you will need: hijiki, edamame (cooked and w/o the shell), chicken (1 portion or so) , and goma (sesame seed) salad dressing.
1) Cook the chicken in sake and soy sauce in a pan.
2) Combine 1/2c hijiki and 1/2c of edamame.
3) Shred the cooked chicken.
4) Mix the hijiki/edamame and chicken together in a bowl.
5) Add the goma salad dressing to taste.
Perfect summer food!
*If you make this you should post a picture!!!

After having a dream that hijiki was growing out of my nose, ears, etc. I decided I didn't like it ... UNTIL, I forced myself to eat it in a salad, and this was the salad. Very nice!!

Thanks, oloshovewong. That sounds interesting and very different from the hijiki salads I've had. Do you buy the goma salad dressing or to make it yourself?

I've always wanted to know how to make this too! I know that that it has rice vinegar in it but that's about all I know. Do you use frozen hijiki? Dried? Or does H-mart sell fresh? I'd love to find out too!

i just buy the goma salad dressing. You can make a salad dressing from a bit of soy sauce and rice vinegar too. it's really good. This is an uncooked hijiki salad. The classic on in bentos and things, is cooked. You just simmer it with soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame seeds.
And I just used the dried hijiki, it last a really long time when it is dried. They you just re-hydrate what you need as you go along.
cheers*
