LensBaby 3G and Extension Tubes?

view profile

*MasterJack* says:

I have not yet ordered my LB but I wanted to know if extension tubes could be used with it for close-up work? How does the close-up kit work?

Thanks,

MasterJack

I haven't tried the LB with extension tubes, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. The LB is happy as long as it's fixed somewhere more or less in front of the camera. ;-)

I use the 4x attachment a lot--if i'm shooting flowers and want the soft bokeh-esque effect, my lens of choice is:

LB3G wide open
4x macro
telephoto adaptor

I find stacking the 4x + the telephoto works really well.

Yeah, works very well. I have the kenko extension tubes and have even stacked them with the lensbaby. Probably a better solution for macro then the lens baby macro kit.

I did read on the lensbaby site in the FAQ that they can be used but you loose the softness around the edge of the picture. I tried it and it seemed the case.

Yeah, you can just shoot with a wider aperture or take out all aperture rings. That should bring back some of it.
