About The Machine Age: Human Degradation

"The Machine Age" is not just about machines (though photos of machines are usually welcome). It's more about the dehumanization which seems to have become deriguer at the same time that we've moved to more and more machinery.

Let's work on the variety implied by the concept: think about images which don't just show machines, but show machines, metal, inventions, architecture and so on in a stark way that represents something transformational. Perhaps a little impersonal, cold, or scary. Maybe not any of that, but bespeaking to a homegnization or mass production, with an incumbent loss of individuality.

I've posted shots of diet drinks, and porn video shops, lonely statues, traffic, skyscrapers, skylines overwhelmed by cranes, commuter rushes. So it's not just about machines.

Subway shots? I happen to think subways are beneficial when a populace is in overwhelmingly tight quarters where universal car ownership would be inconceivable. But an overwhelming density can be dehumanizing: so subway shots are welcome because they accompany a need brought on by The Machine Age.

Up for it?
