Pretty cool, though I'm still skeptical about the August release date. Why would Apple release a brand new platform (new iMac) to consumers before Leopards launch, just to say to them two months later, "if you want the best Apple has to offer, hand over another $129 please...".
I think it looks slick and matches the Mac Pro and Macbook Pro's industrial look. My wife really likes the clean, white minimalist approach of our current iMac though... Guess we'll have to do his and her iMacs soon, like our B&W iPods... =D

Because they make more money that way?

Typically when the timing has happened like this in the past, there is a complimentary upgrade within a certain time frame. I think you can find this if you hunt down their store policies. I don't think you'd get a free ride from Aug to Oct but within a couple of weeks might be doable.

I agree with Mabedan, that´s not apple´s industrial design at all, take a look at the pictures at www.appleinsider.com and tell me if apple would design a keyboard with those ugly usb ports.

If you notice, those USB ports are actually hidden under it, you wouldn't really see them. What does it matter any, doesn't everyone replace the sock board to Logitech, lol?
zlguocius: Thats obvious, but think of how alienating that would be to the new consumer, especially to new switchers to Apple. I can see the hundreds of "grey box" dealers trying to get rid of PCs right before Vista, for RAM and GPU upgrade sales, but for Apple to do this (which upgrades aren't really the key, actual customer conversion is)...

"this keyboard is too ugly to be from apple "
i don't see how any different or perhaps any uglier this is than the current all white apple keyboard.

While Apple did supposedly say they might be going with more of a leptop style keyboard for the new iMac, I highly doubt that's it, it just doesn't look like an Apple product.

AND apple don't use "enter" key anymore... they use another sign instead of enter in their laptops... or at least "return"
the usb port is REALLY bad designed, even LG doesn't make such a thing :P

I love the MacBook's keyboard, but I think this one looks... cheap. I don't like the contrast white plastic/alluminum.
After all, I hope it's real, because I really need a replacement for my Microsoft keyboard.

Notebook keyboards are a compromise by necessity.
Other than being cheaper for Apple to produce, I don't see what's gained by bringing those compromises to the desktop.

I like it... alot. I do wish that if it's real they will change the color of the keys to match the alluminum.

I think it looks mostly great, and I will get used to the contrast of white plastic and Aluminum

I don't believe this to be real. I'll happily be mocked if it does come to fruition, but it just looks so.... fake. And so very feeble. I type with passion, and I'd likely break through this 'style over substance' keyboard in a single day of email, coding and IM.

Makes me wonder what the new iMac is going to look like.
It is hard to tell from photographs, so i'll reserve judgement until I see on 'in the flesh' at my local Apple Store.

If it does look like that I'll just wait until Leopard comes out hopefully on the current macs and buy one of them. I like the white macs, not the slender silver ones.
