No, I wasn't. Trying to capture binary via minimalism would be quite a challenge.

what about:
choose a word (a feeling, a concept, a thing, whatever)
find something that fits the word
shoot it in a minimalistic way
like the reverse of adding a title to a photo

I like all the ideas, the Binary seems too specific though. The #'s idea would be an easier one for people to participate in (three being a good minimal #). Saladeria, give me some word suggestions...

it could be anything, but here you have some examples:
curiosity, cold, black, communication, end, grow, anger, fear, skin, toe, shine, big, pattern, definition, empty, road, bed, ugly,
just from your last post ;) :
idea, specific, easy, people, participation, three, word

Can I chime in here with support for the numbers idea - i like three as a number.
Alternatively, using saladeira's idea with this... perhaps portray 'loneliness' or being alone - that signifying a sole, singular object

With the Peter Gabriel song 'Sky Blue' in my head, I just thought maybe you could select a colour, not necessarily blue though :)
The rules made tighter by the sole object being this colour - no photoshop additions like tints. Perhaps something not seen everywhere you look. How about orange? Purple?

Maybe you could do 'half and half' or some kinda of fraction, that could mean half sky half ground in composition, or memebrs can interpret it to mean two objects making a whole - complete only with eachother's presence....?
Ooooh, or...(last one now, I promise!)....how about reflections?

Tools... either artistically speaking, or DIY tools
A photo of the back of something
Children's Toys
Square minimalism. Photos that are cropped to a square

Idea for December?, " Window Shopping" , finding minimal images out of "busy" window dressing - the more weird the better

I'm not sure how to shoot that though. So far the most popular challenge has been the #3 so maybe more specific possible subjects... Color maybe? we have Orange in October. Maybe Blue or White in January?

How about trying to capture a vision you get from a simple (maybe its not that simple!!) "quote"

Or something to do specifically with being inside (like in your house or office or something)? Cause it's really difficult finding time to go shoot with the nights being so long and weather not always being helpful.

March: "In Like a Lion" March is supposedly the windy month. Why not a contest exhibiting wind.
June makes me think Junebugs, why not have a Bugs theme for June.

I like the Insect theme, though it might be hard, macro photos are hard to get minimal, and not every one has a macro lens. Though they could do non macro photos but they would have to get really creative in finding a very large bug to photograph and still get a minimalist feel.

If you're going by months, then 'April showers' could be done too.
As for inside themes, how about concentrating on one room in the house, like the kitchen for instance, or something that everyone would have at home or in the office like lights... I don't know...

Hi! Way new to the group
An idea for a challenge..
If it's been done, my apologies.
Beginnings....
A shoot of a plant breaking soil, a leaf bud just emerging, a pair of wedding bands, .
Whatever is a Beginning....

In my part of the world April is autumn ... and when MyfanwyX was suggesting the nights are long and the weather dodgy, it was the middle of summer here.
Do you really want to exclude people based on where they live?
I like fluffy stuff as a subject

November
"Giving thanks for the small things"
December, please don't use snow, I live in Florida!
Thanks, SpH for liking my idea! And thanks, nextography for choosing it!
I like Falcifer's suggestion, "Tools"
The post above "Wall" seems interesting too....
December..White, it suggests the month, yet makes it easy for those of us who don't get snow!

@ -SpH- I wasn't suggesting excluding anyone by going inside. If anything, it's more inclusive. Like I say, choosing a specifically outdoors subject when it's winter (for anyone) can make getting a good pic really difficult. Choosing the odd indoor subject for those months just opens it up a bit more.

Added "V" theme for November, any ideas for December or January?
Also thinking of changing next months theme, I am thinking all were gonna get are semi blurry pictures from it, maybe I will change it to just circles.

How about "Broke" for the end of December? As most people overspend during the holiday, maybe something to reflect this?
How about "Resolution" for January? So pictures of New Year's Resolutions, or goals to be achieved (or missed)?

I'm fairly new to the group, so please forgive if I restate or miss the point...
- Toys (I've seen that elsewhere on this post so I second/third/whatever it)... might be fun for Dec
- children (summer month, or start of school=sept)
- Cats (maybe for a cold month, or a "leisure" month, such as August)
- Food (food is good anytime)
