Do I personally need to be diabetic to join this group? If not, I would love to join. My six year old has had Type I for almost six years now. Yes, he was diagnosed at 10 months old. It turns out he is quite rare as he did not present with islet cell antibodies so he is now part of a research study in which they are studying his DNA for different types of diabetes. He has been pumping for three years and hasn't missed a beat. He handles much of his care himself and goes too fast for the school nurse. She asks him to slow down all the time.
He is also quite an athlete and we are working on keeping his blood sugar controlled with various sports.
I stumbled onto this group and have been looking through the pictures and I thought this would be a fun project for us. I wanted to start on his diagnosis anniversary 7/19, but maybe I will get anxious and start before then :)

Hi, of course you don't have to! There are several parents of children with T1 diabetes here. You're welcome to join! (:

Welcome to the group!
I have a similar situation. My, now seven year old, daughter was diagnosed at three and has been pumping for a year and a half now and we totally love it.
She also manages her pump mostly herself (I do the site change though), and I actually had a school nurse call me once, asking to make her slow down, because they had no idea what she just put into her pump. ;-)
