SLR Advice Please
 |
I am about to make the leap from a Nikon Coolpix 5200 to a SLR. I'm thinking of the D50, any advice out there?

i shoot with a d-50 and find it an awsome tool to work with.BUT,i would suggest you look around at other models also.go to the store and hold them in your hand and see haw they feel to you.look at what each one is capable of doing and if it will do what you want it too.
also remember, the camera is a disposable instrument, your long term investment will be in the lenses you purchase for it later.i know this is not much help but, take your time and don't rush things.

Hi
I started off with a Nikon Coolpix 5200 and have done thousands of photos with that small compact camera. Then I went on to the D50 which was a fantastic move so if you feel for a D50 - go for it!
Right now I am using a D80 plus a Coolpix P3 but only because my sister took my D50 and my doughter the Coolpix 5200 and that gave me a possibility to upgrade. I would however recommend the D50!

It is now hard to find - the D50 ... it is no longer being made

Try the D80 or D40x instead.
