I chose the photo I recieved the most positive feedback on, because I think we tend to be quite self critical....I do think its one of my best....and must add that I am really exploring Flickr a lot more to see what ELSE the participants have to show than the ONE and ONLY that is posted here....great fun!!!!!

this is an interesting dilemma you mention paul. like byrdiegyrl i went with one of my more popular images. but we all have images that we love, that no one looks at. it is good when your better images coincide with popular opinion. it helps with a few of my images, but most of my images' may be too abstract or difficult for many to appreciate. i think everyone has different levels of visual vocabulary, meaning understanding of techniques, composition, aesthetics, that are dependent on one's experience and or education. so if the premise of this group is to show what people can do in exploring photography, i try to post an image that is different that what has been done before. also, for me, posting one of my more "accessible" images may allow for someone to take a look at the rest of my photostream and maybe to understand more of what i am doing.
if i were to post my favorite image, it probably get less noticed than an easier thing to look at. i am being true to myself cause i know even in my more "accessible" images, im always pleasing myself first. which is what i think everyone is doing, taking photos to please themselves. we all appreciate compliments, but what really matters is if we are happy with what we have done.
i see this group as an introduction to peoples' explorations in photography. and means for inspiring one another.

I had to pick from 3 photos animal photos I consider to be my all time best photos, two I love myself and got good feedback on, and one which was an accidental good photo I got when very young which has been alarmingly popular, I ommitted that one due to it being accidental and had one of a tiger and one of a snail as my top 2 faves, I went for the snail as I think these little fellas don't get as much coverage as the big cats.

I would have posted the same question if I'd had time to post when I first got invited here! Big dilemma.
I was so tempted to use my shot of two cows' backs... a personal fave of mine that I believe is oddly underappreciated by others; but ultimately I chose one that others like quite a bit, which I also love and use as inspiration all the time.
This is a great idea for a group!

I haven't posted yet because of this exact dilemma. My most popular photo on flickr isn't my most popular photo with myself, so I'm not going to post it. Unfortunately, I'm unable to decide what I will post :)

The photo I posted is actually 5 years old, and has been my favorite pretty much since then. It's gotten a lot of praise from others, as well, so I know it's not just me.
It's from back when I was studying artistic photography, so I think I was working at a higher level then than I am now. Which is okay, because my creativity is mostly channelled in other directions these days.

I cannot decide either... but I am about to, and I'm going with my favorite upload so far - sort of along the lines of - if I were to leave one photo behind, how would I want to be remembered on flickr ;)
Thanks for the invite, keen to be included among all the talent!

I chose the one the most people have "favorited" because I don't do that "best photo" thing well. I like the ones nobody else likes - usually.
I mean, I have odd taste.

Just one comment, if you agree with your favoriters, post the most popular, but otherwise, post the one you are most happy with.

I posted my cornice picture because it is my favourite of all. It was a beautiful day, the week-old cornice snow was meringue-like, there were no footprints nearby, and the sun was esconced in a nebulous sky. (I got a wicked wicked sunburn that day!)
The photo is one in a series of cornice photos. The time of morning, the available daylight, the little help from the thin clouds and my luck at being there after a longish hike all conspired to create that photo.
When it appeared on my screen while I downloaded the CF card onto my computer, I knew I had one that I liked.

This group aside for a moment (in a manner of speaking)... I just finished the task of new photosets 1) Top 25 pictures (voted by you Flickrites by views/favouriting) and 2) Top 25 pictures (my own personal picks)
#2 Was the most difficult thing I've ever done I think, I just have way too many personal favourites, I felt like I was eliminating way too many good choices.
Anyway, it's about time for me to add a new picture to this group pool - deleted the old one a couple of days ago, I think I'll go with my gut on this one and see what turns out

I have always wondered about the idea behind picking 25, which leaves the "odd man out" in the set because Flickr shows four per row.
Perhaps the developers should be lobbied for displaying five per row. :)

Thanks for the invite, I have pondered this for a few days now, and decided to go with a picture that represents a combination of the things I'd like to aim for rather than posting one that works well in one single aspect.

I decided on intent and result. Did my intention carry through to something that i'm proud of. In the case of my "one" it's true.

I stressed about it so much, I finally narrowed it down to a few, then picked one at random; dont even remember what it was, probably a hawk... =0)

It was a hard decision for me as well; but I ended up going with the one that meant the most to me in a personal level. As I stated in the post, it's one that has gotten the least response of all my photos; something which I don't really quite understand - I thought it a powerfull photo when I took it and still do everytime I see it - but like u said, sometimes it just works that way.

i deleted my first image www.flickr.com/photos/fladines/1297498 and replace it with www.flickr.com/photos/fladines/203958/in/pool-one/
i know many of us debate posting most popular vs our favorite/best/most representative image. i finally decided on the latter.
i think, many of us may shoot differnet styles, like abstracts, street photography, landscapes, etc. so chosing favorite/best/most representative, can be narrowing to just one kind of photography we enjoy.
in time, our ability and tastes change. thanks kodama for allowing us (after sometime), to replace our one image.

wow, i love the images people are choosing! amazing.
mine is a totally impulsive choice: this is the one i sent to the pool. i love grantbw's eye, so when he said he liked my eggslicer more than weston's, i just beamed for weeks, flattery gets me every time. it's not my most favorited... that's a sunset. it's not even my most favorited kitchen object. it just makes me proud.

firstly, thanks to kodama for pointing me here. secondly, what a cool idea. tells us all something v. interesting about what we all choose, don't you think? also makes you look at yourself and try to work out what represents you. I'm a generalist though, bollox. where do I start....?

It is a really tough answer to come up with. I pick my one picture more or less by just by how much fun I had taking the picture. Also if I planned the shot or if I just walked up to it. Many of my pictures no one has made a comment on, I don't worry about that at all ,when picking the shot.

I finally just got around to posting my "only one". I knew as soon as I viewed the hi res image that this would be the one. It's not often that happens.
I take a lot of self portraits, I find them to be the most expresive of my photography. And this particular shot holds a lot of important aspects to my "self". I won't go into it as I feel that will spoil what other people get out of viewing the image.
Needless to say, if there were only one photo to survive after I left this world, right now, I'd like it to be this one**

I posted a photo that I think is really good - but it has hardly been looked at compared to some of my other photos! But it's still my personal favourite.

Hi all, I'm new to the group and haven't chosen my favorite yet. I don't have a lot of help from other viewers because I didn't participate in any groups until just recently and my stream has basically gone unnoticed :)
