"New" Penguin Celebrations Paperbacks
 |
These ones here
What do people make of them? When we first saw them we were a bit non-plussed, although having seen a table laid out with all the titles on it today in a bookshop they are beginning to grow on us...
If only they'd gone with the original gill sans/bodoni combo we probably would have bought the lot by now, font-geeks that we are!

I think they’s an interesting nod back to the original Penguin design, but at £7.99 each it’d be much cheaper to fill your shelves with the real thing.
That said I’ll probably buy a couple when I see them.

not sure about these- the differences just highlight the delicate balance of the original Tschichold (or whosever it was) design. These look slightly clumsy to me, but still so much better than 90% of book covers now.

Well Ive got the Adrian Mole and Jeremy Paxman's one and I quite like them but I do feel they look a bit .. modern.
