About People of the Great Rivers

This group (launched the 23rd May 2007) is about people living on and along the greatest rivers, their connections with the great river.
The emphasis is on the interaction of the people with the water/river; how this characterizes their way of life.

Post: local people seen in connection with the river. People may not be visible, but what makes their way of life connected to the river has to be visible; human activities (spiritual, economic, every days life); constructions; boats; farming, fishing, for example.
Water of the "great river" (as defined below) has to be visible.

Instructive captions are a must!

Don’t post: landscape alone; tourists posing.

This group focuses on people from a limited number of “great rivers”, see list below. But pictures taken in/along the whole basins and tributaries of those rivers are welcome, as long as the picture shows a strong connection with water in local people’s way of life (please indicate to which "Great River" it relates, at least with a tag).

For pictures not falling under those lines, there are other groups, in a similar theme and open to other places, see for example Rivers and River Life
If you really want to share in this group pictures of special interest; showing strong interactions between people's way of life and another river (not in the list), then please don't post in the group's pool, but in the thread "People of the other rivers".

Which river basin belongs to the group is subjective, the list (which may be slightly modified) is:
