Just to quibble a little, but since i trademarked this idea as a challenge (its a joke!) i'm not sure the 'maximum of up to 3 pictures' works for this. I think it should be a set of 3 to 5 images. But whatever :)

Rather than vote for one image should the vote be for one person. Esp if there are a series of images on the theme, might only make sense as a series.

Yes I was going to say that when it comes to the vote it's the photographer that's to be voted for, not the image (though you can state which one stole it for you)

That was the idea yes. The images should be a set around a central theme.

From this website
www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/year/december.htm

"In Yorkshire, people say 'Black rabbits, black rabbits, black rabbits' in the closing seconds of the old year. Then they say, 'White rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits,' as their first utterance of the New Year. This is suppose to bring good luck.

Many people try to make 'White rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits,'
their first words on the first day of any new month. On the first day of each month when children get to school they may say to someone:

'Pinch punch the first day of the month - no returns!'

In retaliation the other one will immediately exclaim:

'A punch and a kick for being so quick - no returns!."

Just been looking up some event stuff in Sheff and came across this one for community stuff going on.

www.eventsheffield.co.uk/browse/4/festivals-fairs/27/comm...

Not sure if it's of any use to anyone. I'll certainly be interested in some stuff in June from the third page-ish

EDIT to add... remember the world market things on this weekend for the snooker in town (saw them setting up last night). This could be good for some city community interpretation.

this reminds me of an essay I had to write on the meaning of community a few years ago

I can still remember the the question
"Community is a contested concept - discuss"

I run online communities for a living...will be lovely to get away from that and talk to/take pics of people in real life.

Met a lovely homeless bloke at 3am this morning (like you do), who will let me take pics if I bring him some boiled ham sandwiches...

I took a pic of a homeless guy yesterday and was shocked to see a 'RIP' notice today in his place when I returned! Not him but turns out there was an incident last weekend and a chap lost his life (in tonights star)

I was really saddened to read it as I know they really do stick together as a community. The hand written tribute itself and stray flower said it all

That's so sad! This guy was telling me they (about 5 of them) used to sleep in a building by the station but it had been boarded up and now they were trying to find somewhere else. Really upsetting...

I've always found it really sad that homeless people can't stay in shelters if they have a dog - but so many of them have dogs for company, companionship and security.
