I tried my Canon 45 TS with the 1.4x converter and was surprised to find the IQ was very good. I've contemplated the 2x but haven't done it yet.
Are you shooting in M mode? What lens?

I would be interested in examples of this also. I have the Canon 24mm and am curious to see what the extender would do.

The camera still thinks it's using a lens of f/2.8 aperture because that's what the lens is still telling the camera it has. The maximum effective aperture is f/5.6. When you add a 2X teleconverter, you lose 2 stops no matter what the lens is telling the camera. No free lunch.

I get the same with the MP-E65mm. It doesn't register the teleconverter either.

You loose light, but the aperture remains the same. The light loss is due to the inverse square law and as you are moving the lens further from the sensor or film it reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor. You need to compensate for this, however dependent on the camera you are using the metering will remain the same because the light reaching the meter sensor will also be reduced.

The hole remains the same size but the focal length increases. If the camera isn't registering the correct focal length that presumably means that it isn't calculating the f-number correctly either.

Here's a few with the 90mm ts-e with 2X and almost full t/s . Didn't think the 24mm was compatible with the 2X, so haven't tried it. Not sure if that's what people are looking to see as an example here. Nonetheless, a suddenly sharp lens such as the 90mm can become very soft in this circumstance fwiw. A beast to focus correctly particularly given these are long shots. And the camera does not give an accurate aperature reading with this set up. Usually about 1 stop and a half difference or thereabouts, but I typically test shoot first and go by what the histogram is telling me.

i have used the 1.4x with the 24mm TS and it works fine, you just lose some light.
