Hi everyone, I'm Molly, currently living in Yokohama, Japan. I'm a PhD student in Japanese lit and library science at the University of Michigan, hoping to become a university librarian in the future. (One day, when I graduate... ;) In the past 10 years I have lived in Rochester NY, Fukuoka and Yokohama in Japan, Pittsburgh, and the Detroit area, so I think I have been lucky to have so much material for urban photos surrounding me in my daily life. I have been trying to capture more of it with my camera lately.
I'm really happy to have found this group, because my focus is on the strange, interesting, and beautiful details in my environment. I like things like rusting metal, old buildings, strange pieces of architecture, interesting shapes and colors. It's great to find others who get why this is interesting! :D

Greetings everyone. I'm Tony. Like most of you I too enjoy photographing details and bits of buildings or other stuff in the landscape that people overlook. When I am out and about I am always looking around for the unusual. If I go to a new city or place I try not to take the obvious touristy pics. I wander down the back alleys and streets looking for stuff off the beaten track that people rarely see. As you may see most of my work is in my home town of Preston.

Hi everyone...Janic here...currently living in NJ, born in Montreal, have lived in Toronto and Vancouver as well...i'm taking a photography class which has reawakened the bug, as it were...i like the way this group operates (from what i'm seeing so far)....
i'm more partial to the fragments of the mundane that people pass every day without noticing....more and more i've been saying to myself "I Wish i had my camera, and the time to stop to shoot that"....but i'd get nothing done all day except take photos of things if i did that....

Hey Ivan don't give up. I've had my camera for 8 years and I still don't use it anywhere near the proficiency of the professionals on Flickr. If you aren't doing it for money then I say have fun and don't worry about how your work stacks up against anyone else's

Hello everyone, another newbie. Have been taking photographs since 7 (with or without acceptable result) and still enjoy it. Converted in 2005 from analog (Canon F1 and mostly Fuji) to digital (Canon 350D). I live in Angola and have traveled around, so my urban fragments are a bit from everywhere. I hope you like them.

I'm living in Bristol (SW England), having made my way here via Northern Ireland and Manchester.
I also spend a while each year in northern Thailand - where I hope to be moving reasonably soon.

Hello from suburbia....
As I travel I find I am drawn to architecture and urban photos. In suburbia these two items are anomolies.
There is something comforting about a beautiful arch, scrollwork or doorway or and there is something unsettling in seeing a city from a different view.
Thus I explore with camera in hand.

I like 'weird' for lack of a better term. So I'm new to this type of photography but it's a lot of fun.
