Dining In Vegas

view profile

MeleniePHX  Pro User  says:

My husband and I will be in Vegas from April 26th through the 29th. We are staying in a time share with a full kitchen, so some of our meals will be eaten in the room.

Used to be you could get a prime rib dinner in Vegas for $5.00, but dining in Vegas isn't what it used to be! We're looking for recommendations for buffets, on or off the strip, as well as any of the cheap but yummy resaturants.

Someone told us of a very good and inexpensive Italian place just off the strip, but I can't remember the name of it. We're also looking for good steak/seafood buffets.

We're looking to stay under $15.00 per person. We would much rather spend our money on shows than food! =)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I love the Peppermill. It's a funky diner with great portions of food and screams "Vegas." You have to see this place. It's one of my favorite places out here. 2985 Las Vegas Blvd. (between the Stardust and the Riviera).

In the Hard Rock Hotel. It's fun, it's casual, and they have more tequila than Mexico.

"Flavor" at Harrah's; they are located in the center of the strip, serve all three meals buffet-style (many different ethnic foods represented), & I think my buffet breakfast was $12, but I'm not positive.

That Italian place is Battista's under the Monorail and across from Bally's. Flamingo and Audrie are your cross streets, just steps from the Blvd. If you are gamblers... don'f forget your comps are great for free food.

The Rio's Carnival Buffet is the best (IMO) and there is a $5 off coupon in one of the local magazines (don't remember which one) making it only $10 for all you can eat (lunch).

Ellis Island's "off menu" $4.99 steak special was not bad and if you sign up for the players card the day before you can get another $5 off any entree.

I'm looking for ideas on my next trip. Pink Taco is a given. I usually go out to The District for Lucille's BBQ, but how is Salt Lick at Red Rock? Is it worth a trip out there?

Firefly has the best spanish tapas and sangria. In Primm, Silver Spur has excellent Prime Rib. And I love Olives on the strip for a fine meal.

Salt Lick BBQ is awesome. Red Rock is pretty neat too. We live very close to Boulder City in Henderson and make the trip to Red Rock just for the BBQ. Well worth it.

I heard Firefly got a C from the health department. For those that don't know, some places in California have letter grades, and we stole it from them. You can't get lower than a C without being shut down (40 demerits, wee!).

So I guess Firefly is ok. If you don't mind the crunch of cockroaches in your food. It's just protein, right? =D

ICKY POO!!! I get enough protein, thank you very much!!!

If you like Dim Sum, Changs, on Decatur between Tropicana & Harmon is the BEST in town. I also like Famous Dave's BBQ on Rainbow & Lake Mead. Their different BBQ sauces are next to none!

When family comes to Vegas to visit I take them to the District by Green Valley Station Casino. It is nice, the casino has a decent buffet. It caters mostly to locals but there is a nice mall with shops and some of my favorite restaurants.

The Orleans on Tropicana between Arville and Cameron is a locals casino, not the sexiest thing around, but the food is reasonable and good. Big Al's Oyster Bar is one of my fave seafood places in town. The buffet is good too.

How was your trip to Vegas, What timeshare did you stay at. We are going May 16-23 and are staying at the Grandview opposite South Pont. First time there. I am hoping that it will be as nice as the one in Fla.
Are there any restrictions on bringing camera bags in the Casino and on Trips? Please help

PepperMill is a great place, The Rib Loft at the Orleans is really nice, you have to be a meat eater for this place though, it opens at 5pm and unless you want to wait you'll need reservations.

The all you can eat buffets are overrated, to much pasta, pizzia and cheap stuff. Good luck, hope you hit the Megabucks.

The Pink Taco certainly has great atmosphere, but for better Mexican food and much better value for money, I'd recommend Cozymel's which is a couple of blocks east of the Strip.

I've never been to the Claim Jumper in Las Vegas, but it has been wonderful everywhere else I've tried it.
