poor quality prints

view profile

I recently placed an order for pickup at Target, and boy am I disappointed with the quality of the prints. They came back very grainy, and I don't know why. I use an 8MP camera (more than enough for a 4x6) and my images go from camera, to hard drive, to flickr; no messing with size or toying with resolution (that I know of). Any suggestions?

Bad prints is enough of a reason to ditch flickr and just buy an external hard drive just for pictures.

What size is your 'original' on Flickr? (click the All Sizes button above a photo). Maybe you are resizing during upload?

The photo is huge. The original is here so there shouldn't be a reason for my prints coming out bad.

bpurc27 Have you actually checked? The Uploadr has a resizing option, which may have default settings that are resizing your photos during the uploading process.

Would you check your uploaded original and let us know what size Flickr has stored your photo at?

As Brenda suggested, you can find these dimensions by clicking the "All Sizes" button above the image.

I also notice Traget automatically does some post processing on them which tries to "correct" your photos. Such as intentional shadows being lightened up to reveal grainy looking details...

I must say, I once ordered some pictures from QOOP and the color quality and exposure was pretty poor compared to the pictures I ordered from the same files at Shutterfly. Not sure what the issue is.

I went back to ordering pictures exclusively from Shutterfly which is a big pain in the ass since it requires uploading fotos twice.
