Rescuing vintage imagery from the landfills of memory, one image at a time...
Interested in making friends local to the SF Bay area, with similar interests in all things vintage (paper, books, cars, signs, etc.) for little jaunts.

-------------------------------------

NOTE: Much time and effort goes into collecting, photographing, scanning, editing, uploading, adding descriptions to these images, etc. Rather than directly reposting images from my stream to your flickr account (NO!!!!!!), please FAVORITE images that you especially like, print them for personal home enjoyment, or use the flickr Blog This feature to add them to your blog, complete with links back to the original and attribution. I'd really appreciate it. Asking permission wins you major points, and keeps me in the mood to share more images with you!!
My contacts have the rights to view (and print) my images at all sizes. I only add people as contacts who have images to share, or that I know personally. Seems fair.
Although I appreciate invites to add my photo to group pools, and awards are nice, please refrain from adding animated or large graphics to my comments... Blinky and ginormous images take away from the flow of conversation...

-----
A lot of my book and record photos come from my volunteer work for the Friends of the Palo Alto Library, a non-profit group that raises money for the local library system. I used to run the Bargain Room, which tends to be full of antiquated, unique, and otherwise pulp-licious finds.

Testimonials
Miss Retro Modern says:
"It's up to Paula that I was inspired to post my own collection of vintage ephemera! She has a wonderful archive of mid-century pop culture images, and some great sketches to boot!"
Gatochy says:
"Paula is one of the nicest people I've met on Flickr, and her photo stream is simply wonderful. A beautiful collection!"
John and Stacy says:
"Paula's flickr album is one of my greatest sources of daily inspiration! I love to look through these photos!"
coalandice says:
"Truly the Anthropology, Sociology & Library Science
Professions are missing out on the vision
ability and skills of Paula Wirth!"
Lisanne! says:
"I've been saying for the years that the Internet would become the repository for imporant works which would never become generally available through earlier media. A great work, one of true depth and scope, could not be easily published through traditional modes. Paula Wirth exemplifies the possibilities that exist within this still new form. What she has accomplished is indeed a great work; she has complied an excellent body of material about our society, its roots and its various passageways and alleys. When I find such creative expression I am quite awed and grateful."
miceland says:
"I honestly believed I loved and knew a lot about kitch and ephemora. Then I saw Paula's photostream. That shut me up quick.
In all seriousness don't read this tripe I am writing, just go and enjoy all the images she has ammassed."
David A. Pattison says:
"Paul's enthusiam for illustration is fantastic. She should be teaching what she knows. Feel very lucky that she is sharing her discoveries with us."
-dario says:
"Paula is a great illustrator and she's even better at capturing everyday life moments in her sketches. But the greatest thing about her presence on Flickr is her ability to capture and present us with countless graphic design and advertising ephemera, to remind us whence we came, to boldly go where no designer has gone before."
manthatcooks says:
"Paula has a great eye for books that add a sharp note of folly to the nostalgia and she's an illustrator too. Always something to look forward to in my contacts list. What a gem."
carparksuperstar says:
"Paula has a beautiful eye for the sketch and the perfect moment we are all looking for."
