Natural History and Art History are my main interests.

Member of NANPA the North American Nature Photography Association.

I'm using a Canon 1Ds MkII body now, but many earlier photos were taken with the Canon 20D. There are a few Canon G3 and Canon EOS3 (film) shots in there as well.

The bird photos are seen through a Canon 600 mm f/4 L IS or 400 mm f/4 DO IS lens, often with the addition of a 1.4x teleconvertor. The older bird photos were taken with the 100-400 mm IS L variable aperture zoom.

The macro photos are shot with a Canon 180 mm f/3.5 L. Most dog shots are from a 28-70mm f/2.8 L zoom and the architectural shots from a 17-35 mm f/2.8 L wide angle zoom.

I almost always shoot from a tripod and use a Gitzo 1348 with an RRS BH-55 ball head for the lighter lenses and a Gitzo 1548 with a Wimberly head for the 600. I use a Canon 550 EX strobe with a Quantum Turbo 2x2 battery pack to power the flash and a Better Beamer flash extender for telephoto work.

I've started carrying a Canon SD850IS Elph as a pocket cam and am digging what it can do.

I'm Male and Taken.
