I have been in love with Mr. P for decades.
Seeing this one was one of the main reasons I
decided to make a significant loop on this
trip through Arkansas. I touched his metal
foot and told him how good it was to finally
meet him. I'm so glad the factory takes such
nice care of him.

So are those pants or stockings? This is one
of life's (mine, at least) unsolved
mysteries. And if they're pants, is that his
peanut butter gut hanging down? And more to
the point, does he eat peanut butter, or is
that sort of cannibalistic?

I have a photo of this at the old location.
It had been used as a sign for the Half
Dollar Bar (which took the place of the
Planters Peanut store. This sign was
originally in Peabody, Mass. on U.S. Route 1.
It was going to be destroyed and someone from
the SCA (maybe Pete Phillips) contacted
Planters and they came and got the sign and
restored it. Not like Dunkin Donut, who won't
restore and continue to use the Brighton,
Mass. sign.

Are you sure this is the same one? Didn't
they make multiples for other stores? I'll
have to do some research when I get home.

Yes, of course they made others, I even have
a shot of one down on U.S. Rte. 6 between
Providence and Fall River, (it was closer to
Fall River). In fact the other one was
slightly different, but still a Mr. Peanut.
This one is identical to the one on Rte. 1
and I recall what basically happened (see
above). If I search back into my archive of
SCA NewsJournals, I know I will find the
mention of it being saved by Planters and
moved to one of their facilities.

Hello all! I work at Planter's here in Fort
Smith and am greeted by Mr. Peanut every
morning on the way through the gate. Great
