March for Fair Food |
Lawrence Fair Food, Kansas Mutual Aid
and the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and
Justice organized the March for Fair
Food on August 25, 2007. The march was
in solidarity with the Coalition of
Immokalee Worker's campaign for just
wages for farmworkers in the state of
Florida. After a four year successful
boycott of Taco Bell and a two year
campaign against McDonald's that won pay
increases and improved working
conditions for thousands of workers who
pick tomatoes for the fast food
industry. The CIW has now turned its
attention to Burger King. The CIW's
simple demand: one penny more per
pound of tomatoes picked and an end to
virtual slavery in the fields of
Florida. photos by ailecia ruscin
