WOW! I really like this one! From the
thumbnail I thought it resembled light
shining through the rippling water of a
swimming pool! Now that I've viewed the large
image, I see I'm right!! :)

I like the (almost) lack of color in this
one. I love what you can do with refracted
light, Alan.

Very elegant near-repeating pattern. I saw a
chorus line...

Wow!
A very interesting pattern. Didn't know
that molded and formed plastic could be so
interesting :)
It's even better when viewed on black.

I like the pool-in-sunlight interpretation,
even more so since I`m practically living
underwater these days as you know; although I
saw sheer fabric again like in the previous
photo.

Lovely. I like how these somehow feel more
familiar than your other range of similar
shots...
I'm intrigued by the way you stick to
refraction caustics, by the way - no interest
in exploring the reflected side of things?

Thank you all for your wonderful comments,
much appreciated.
>Sherry, thanks it does look better on
black.
>Oolong; Fergus, I have no objection to
reflections but I think I've still a long
way to go on refractions. I may change when
I've run out of ideas on this.

I like the overall texture in this one!
Reminds me of some old prints I made by
shining light through lightbulbs, plastic
cups etc, directly onto B&W printing
paper.

Thanks dallsoppuk; that's it, it's exactly
the same except I'm exposing directly on to
35mm colour film.

Going with the " 'gathered' fine cloth
material ", I am looking through a fine
net curtain at the ocean by night !
You have to go a bit cross-eyed to see it
(don't do it when the clock strikes midnight
or your eyes will stay that way ).....
......on the left and off into the
distance, a calm moonlit ocean, at the bottom
middle, I see clear water washing onto the
beach and where the curtain has been blown
aside on the bottom right, I clearly can see
the beachsand !
It's a beauty!!!

it seems like there's a correlation between
this and the previous shot ... i see dancing
figures ... now wrap the image around a vase
and expose some lights and colors on them ...
a "negative" to produce decorative
arts if you will.

You asked this question with regards to the
River of Light, two photos back ;
">Stefan; are you saying it is
tending to be fractal or that if random
surface features group then similar features
form as in coagulation?"
...... could the latter be applicable to
this 'Gathered Light' ?

Thank you all for your kind comments and
interpretations.
>Poekie; I'm pretty sure that these
regular patterns are caused by shallow
surface ripples on the plastic formed during
the casting. Rather like the underwater
effects of sunlight on ripples on a pool. The
technique I use is very sensitive to tiny
surface changes and their effects are greatly
enhanced.
