My Grandmother - 1916

My father's mother. She was a 21year old teacher in a one-room school house in this photo. She had 24 students from 6 families. Though her name was Alexina, her card uses the name she went by, "Exina "

I never met her but I always love to look at her when she was young. There's something going on in her eyes, always. I wonder what she thought her possibilities were and how much she believed she'd do them.

What I find a little sad is that the next photo I have of her after this is her 30 years later and just a couple after that.

She's also seen here at 15.
