This is simply amazing and breath taking. Fantastic capture and HDR work. I won't comment on the 2 others that came with this one, for it's "copy and paste comment" from this one...!

This is my favourite of the series, Tokyo Tower really stands out. Love the Blade Runner tag: it's one of my favourite movies and I can see the resemblance!

Blade Runner rules, I cannot wait until the new box set comes out. This set of images is stunning, well done for taking your camera to work.

Too kind y'all; thanks!
Amazing how a movie like Blade Runner filmed *24* years ago got what cities (like Tokyo) would start to look like in the future. Only thing missing in this pic are the flying cars ;-)

The amazing thing about Blade Runner is how it hasn't aged like other Sci Fi films filmed around the same time.
I saw a program on BBC2 the other night about a British chef going to Tokyo to learn about the Japanese attitude to food, and they had a daytime shot that looked a bit like this. I thought 'huh, Altus's shot was much better!' :-)
(He was really impressed with the food by the way...)

Atlus, I saw your comments on another photo about how long your exposures were. Then you said you did the HDR combining work in Photomatix, then "some work in Elements 4". I looked at Photomatix's site on HDR, and their examples look nothing like this. It seems like youv'e done a lot of work in Elements! What kinds of things did you adjust? I see pictures like:
www.flickr.com/photos/altus/229069996/
and
www.flickr.com/photos/altus/219137763/
and they look nothing like other HDR photos I've seen. Can you give any settings used or anything like that? I can't find a single tutorial that goes in this direction. I mean, some raise the contrast and such, but none of them look so much like illustrations/airbrush like these photos do. I love it. I just have no idea what direction to take to create it.
I'm sure someone's asked this stuff before... and I've looked through tons of your photos, but I can't find any info that addresses what I'm looking for. And again, I've seen several HDR tutorials. This one comes closest, but it's still a world away from your stuff:
petemc.net/hdr-guide/
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thanks again everyone!
@Jasmic - Thanks bud! Funny you mention that, as that was a topic at dinner last night (in Hokkaido snowboarding with a group of friends)!
@ehl - Thanks! HDR = High Dynamic Range.
@segadult - On vacation at the moment (typing rather loudly while the family is asleep!). Will email you later in more detail as to the general (though not always the same) technique I use to shoot and render my shots.

Really fantastic shot...
Atlas - could you give me some info. I'm travelling to Tokyo next month and many people have recommended going to Roppongi Hills for great nightscape shots. Could you tell me which buildings are free for the public to access and take photos from.
Thanks
