That's a 15,320' mountain, ~50 mi. distant. Aptly named; not many visitors get to see it! We had highly uncharacteristic, absolutely spectacular weather all the way down the Inside Passage.

You're so lucky to capture this, as the
weather here is quite often not so fair. What
a beautiful scene! I've been wanting to climb
this mountain for some time, and nearly
decided to attempt it again this year, but it
will have to wait again. A friend of mine
(and his partner) made an attempt via the
heavily crevassed Margerie Glacier, accessing
it by kayak. They made it up the glacier, but
ran out of time and had to turn around. They
were quite possibly the first ever to
successfully travel the full length of this
glacier (up and down), but their trip wasn't
uneventful. Thanks so much for this!

Alpine: I was there on a cruise with my
family -- a 90th birthday present for my
grandma, who tore up the dance floor on the
cruise liner, but wasn't going to be hiking
any glaciers! Someday I hope to get back &
do it right, hiking & kayaking & hopefully
some serious backpacking. But I'm never
going to be doing the hardcore
mountaineering. I envy you that, & the
sights you get to see. At least I can come
here to Flickr & see them thru your eyes!
Thanks for sharing your pics & stories, &
glad you liked these.
Marty: Yes, I love the way the water
matches the sky. And it's not just
reflecting. The blue of the waters up there
is just unreal -- it comes from fine
suspended glacial flour, & varies not only
with the sky/lighting but also with the
glacial flour particles' size and
composition. Different places have different
colors -- some (perhaps clearer) are a deeper
blue, many are this cerulean, & Kenai
Lake/River is bright green. Alpine Climber
has got a shot of a lake that's dusty rose --
I kid you not, I still think he Photoshopped
it in. Check it out, if you haven't seen it
already!

Anita: About the lake I have posted that's
dusty rose. Here is a link which you may find
interesting and this is actually where I
learned of this lake. The whole article is
interesting reading, but you will find the
description about the lake in paragraph 8 (on
page 8).
