This was one of the first photos I took with my first digital camera. I bought the camera in December, during our long, cold winter, so was desperately looking for things around the house on which to try out my new "toy". I love anything that has a spiral shape to it.

So this is what you can do with a
digital...Hmmmm, guess I'll have to think a
little more on the purchase. I just love the
clarity you get with digital compared to film
and scanning. I need to check on getting
film on CD's rather than scanning...need some
lessons!!!

Hi, MAMA Z. I would never go back to film!
I'm happy with the quality of digital, though
of course a photo can be good or poor,
depending on the digital camera, the
photographer, the lighting, the printing,
etc.. A really good photo is good quality.
For professionals, or of that standard, maybe
they can see something in digital that makes
them prefer film, but for my level, I'm more
than happy with it. As this shell image
shows, you don't have to leave home or go far
in order to find something to shoot.

You are very welcome. In fact, it is I
should be thanking you for posting this. My
apologies for this tardy reply, but I've been
immersed in helping with funeral
arrangements, the resulting business
adjustments and some delayed travel.
In recent years, I've been refering to
spirals quite a bit. With your permission, I
would like to use a 'S'mall version of this,
properly attributed, to illustrate some of
the sliders I use in my 'not for profit'
speaking engagements and perhaps on a Blog
that I am being asked to help out with.
Lastly, may I mark you as a Contact? You
pictures are most enjoyable, and doing so
would make it easier for me to find them.
P.S.

My turn for apologies! Sorry I didn't get
back to you straight away. I appreciate your
asking permission to use this photo for
"not for profit" purposes. I give
my permission and thank you for giving me
appropriate credit. Spiral shapes are so
fascinating and it's interesting to hear of
someone referring to them in speaking
engagements. By all means, add my name to
your list of Contacts - I feel honoured that
you have asked to do this!

Oh, this is how it looks like from the
inside! By reading the Wikipedia info I
imagined it quite differently.
I'm admiring how the gaps between each
(are these the chambers?) get bigger the
further they are from the center! Beautiful!
