thanks, flickr...it's been great
seriously, it has. but now, it's time to go.
i've been able to find all sorts of inspiration around here, all sorts of friends (if i can call you that), and all sorts of support and help, when it was needed. i've learned a ton, grown and improved a lot. and for that, i'm very grateful.
but
i've also put more time in here than i'd care to admit. i've tried to spend less time here, but i found that too difficult to maintain. and so, i find that i must part ways with you, at least in any sense of active participation.
i may still use you for off-site backup of those files i hold most dear, but would i continue to pay the pro fee just for that? we'll see.
if anyone cares to follow my meager offerings to the realm of photography, you're always welcome to stop by my photoblog, all the standard images (feed). the fun continues there. the doors are always open.
and if you mostly came to catch glimpses and tidbits of the goings on in our family, you can always hit up our family blog, all the standard catastrophes (feed).

one more step
away from being my little girl.
on a mommy-daughter date in topeka last weekend, our daughter fell in love with some hello kitty earrings. when my wife told her that she couldn't have them because her ears weren't pierced, she stopped for a moment, then asked "mom, can i get my ears pierced?"
my wife just about jumped through the roof.
they had to get different earrings to do the piercing with, but she still came home with the hello kitty ones and asks us every day when she can change them (not for 7 more weeks, dear).
almost all of her little friends at school have their ears pierced, but even when we asked before if she wanted to get hers pierced, she said she was fine, that she thought it would hurt too much.
when i asked her if getting her ears pierced hurt, she smiled, shook her head, and told me, "it was...surprising."
