They announce Spring in the Mediterranean area since they migrate from Africa to Europe.
I got these at Portugal.
We call them "andorinhas" :)

yes! :)
The villagers like them. It's like a good fortune sign, so they don't mind to have their nests in their homes.
This bird is like hope. Spring only makes sense when these birds show up.
Another reason is that they eat all the mosquitoes and other insects while they fly.
It's always nice to see them fly - it's like a dance, almost.
