	arimoore says: sorry guys -- i hadn't titled this when you both commented. it was not vegan! i had high hopes, but it was all yogurt and cream and god knows what else. in general though, yes, it was easy to be vegan in india, at least in spirit... everything is cooked in ghee (clarified butter) so it'd be nearly impossible to be totally vegan, at least as a tourist. so that sucked. but beyond that, we were able to avoid animal products altogether. there's a really solid understanding of vegetarianism there, and vegetarians don't eat eggs in india. so all you need to do is order vegetarian food and ask that they don't put any dairy in it -- only you need to list every dairy product you can think of, because they don't get the word "dairy." :) it was a bit of a challenge, but yeah, we ate really well.
