Old school ...At the age of 15 I moved to Akureyri to attend this college. Back then I didn't exactly have my future planned out to the most minute detail but I had som vague intention of broadening my horizon. At first I was mainly interested in studying litterature and arts but ended up majoring in mathematics and physic. Most importantly I got to know some great people there and the 4 years I spent there were most certainly the most adventurous day's of my life.

might be translated to "Victory heights". This house was built by Matthías Jochumsson in 1903. Matthías was a priest and a poet. He was the author of the poem "Lofsöngur" a.k.a. "Ó guð vors lands", Iceland's national anthem. The house is now a museum dedicated to Matthías and his legacy. If anyone's interested in the poem it can be found here.

I found this harbour porpoise on the beach in Garður about a month ago. My guess is that it's a rather young animal as it was only about 70 cm long and weighing 20 kg at the most. Adults from this species can grow upto 1.5-2 meters long. It may just be the most normal thing for a whale to become beached every now and then. But I fear it may have something to do with how we treat nature.
Uploaded on Jul 20, 2008 Greenhouse fx ...Finally I managed to a get a few hours of shooting tonight. I found this abandoned greenhouse in Hveragerði, which was heavily hit with an earthquake a few days ago. Although that fact probably nothing to do with the shape of this establishment.
