day 215 of 365: a year in songs and photos
song: Molly Hatchet, Flirtin' With Disaster
The song was chosen by Todd, not me. Just saying.
Todd's been on one of his weird kicks lately. He gets obsessed with things. The obsessions usually last about 48 hours and include a flurry of emails from him with links to wiki articles or images concerning whatever the obsession of the day is.
I don't know what started his "I'm a cowboy" kick. Maybe it was finding out that there is a mountain in Alaska that bears his family name and he read too much about them being settlers and all that. Whatever triggered this thing, he's been talking with a cowboy sort of drawl for the past two days and talking about buying shotguns (to be fair, he is ALWAYS talking about buying shotguns). So I decided to just wait this one out and put up with his California-tinged twang and his desire to move out west and live in a covered wagon or something like that. But the 48 hours came and went and the obsession stayed.
We ended up driving all the way out to Bohemia today to get him a cowboy hat. But damn if he doesn't look good in it. Usually buying something to go along with his "episodes" puts an end to it; the list of things I have bought for him off eBay would make somebody profiling me scratch their head in confusion.
Anyhow, the trip out to Bohemia turned out to be a good thing, as we passed an abandoned roller rink along the way and I stopped to take some pictures (which I will post later or in the morning).
I'm ok with this cowboy thing for now. I'm even ok with the Molly Hatchet (I did see them a few times in high school). But if he ever asks me to go line dancing or ride a mechanical bull, that hat is going to disappear pretty fast.
In the meantime, I won't complain, just because it looks good on him.
And, obviously, he still has not gotten a haircut nor quit smoking. Hey, at least he's not chewing tobacco.
