Day 234 of 365: a year in songs and photos
Song: Weezer, Pork and Beans
I did this just because this song has been in my head for two days and because I love the video so much.
I used to think I was a big Weezer fan. But as each susbequent album after the Blue disappointed exponentially, I realized I was just a fan of the Blue album itself, and not the band at all.
Yet, I still waited for each album. And waited. And waited. And when Make Believe finally came out and rushed to get a copy and listened to it with the expectation I had for every Weezer album before it, my heart sank. It was clearly their worst effort yet.
So once again I swore off the band (but not the blue album) and vowed to never wait with anticipation for another album of theirs again.
Well, you can guess what happened. The Red album was announced. This song was released. Someone sent me a link to the video. I hesitated. I closed the IM window. I took a deep breath and asked myself "Do I really want to do this? Do I want to commit myself to another round of hopefulness only to have it crushed harder than Conan crushed his enemies?" I decided to wait until the next day to watch the video. Sleep on it.
Except the next day I heard this song on the radio. And I liked it. I really liked it. A lot. So when I got home, I watched the video and fell immediately in love with it.
Then it's all good, right? I could go back to being a Weezer fan. I could listen to the Red album knowing that I'm satisfied already.
Not quite.
This is still the only song I've heard from the album. I don't want to spoil my Weezer contentment. I know it's silly, but I'm happy here in my Pork and Beans bliss. I'll wait another week or so. We'll see. Meanwhile, I have this and the blue album to keep all my Weezer needs met.

It's a hoot if you are up on your internet memes. If not, you'll probably be scratching your head wondering what the hell is going on. Either way, the song is still a catchy, fun tune. Sometimes a little pop drivel is just what you need to make you smile.
