A second after this sadhu waved out to me to take his photo, he ran up to me asking for Rs.50 as "baksheesh". I looked at him incredulously and told him in the most fluent hindi i could muster, that A) I wasn't a firangi he could loot and B)since he was the one who literally ORDERED me to take his picture, he shouldn't be asking for ridiculously large sums of money.

Then I fled.

(as fast as my empty pockets could spur me!)

On my last trip to Rajasthan mostly, Pushkar, I had been warned about the ones who would want to pose for photos and to avoid them.

I did not take a single shot of any of the ones who were more then willing to get themselves photographed, howsoever, alluring their appearance may have been..;-(..

The last of such beggars or should I say commercial shysters was in KOvalam just a few days back. One catamaran owner wanted money for a shot of his catamaran being photographed. He had just brought in two firangs after a small ride and collected a cool 800 bucks.

I had to tick him off and tell him to curb his greed. Some times India can be farcically pathetic. !
