The Evolution of the Phoenix Shield

For the first time in four years (since I created Avalonstar's logo), I touched the phoenix. o_O;

It was weird to once again play around with it, but with Jen's help, I simplified it and am already accustomed to the new look. It went through what I called on Twitter "the good 'ol Cammy-Moll-great-designer realign." To be honest, it felt good doing this.

Next came the shield. If I was going to keep the shield it needed to go through the same "updating." That it did and I think it's sexy (and I NEVER thing my work is sexy). Another great thing on top of that is that the new base shape is vector, something that the old shield never looked good in. (New t-shirts anyone?)

While many of you may not see this as a major change, it is for me and my identity. There was a lot of sitting and staring done while the Illustrator document was open, and for good reason too. The phoenix has been a staple of my online being, and to play around with it is definitely not something I do on a daily basis.

So more than anything, this is a sign of how serious I was in regards to Avalonstar. There's still a long road ahead of me but I thought I'd provide a comparison of the two versions, not only for your sake but for mine as well. :)
