Abandoned Ferroboat at Torrin, Isle of Skye, Scotland.

OK, a ferroboat is built with ferro cement. THAT is all I know, and I guess this is a typical female thing, I just thought it was a nice colour ! Tee Hee !!
With a name like PETROS I wonder if it has Greek connections ?
I have passed by it many times on the way from Torrin to Elgol, but the light was never right, this time I got lucky !
There is a fish farm nearby, that was once owned by Iain Anderson, otherwise known as JETHRO TULL. He was quite well liked as a laird locally I believe. He sold the land off to the John Muir trust, and since that includes my fave mountain, Blaven, I am eternally grateful for that !!
Land ownership in the Highlands does NOT always ensure that the environment and scenery is safeguarded !!

IF TIME, PLEASE VIEW LARGE !!!
I went down to Elgol hoping to get some 'wave' shots, of course, Loch Scavaig was like a mill pond, BUT, I did get a break in the clouds ! It was so brief, I hand held the camera, no time to set up a tripod ! I LOVE grab - shots !

LARGE view is BEST !!
I thought I would go for slightly whacky tonight !( I am middle aged and ALLOWED to do what I like !) A single RAW HDR.
We went for a trip up past Gairloch, the weather was hopeless, low cloud , windy, drizzle, cold, typical Scottish Summer weather !! I did not get a single shot, until, returning thru Glen Torridon, a semblance of light appeared for under five minutes ! I had to run to this spot and set up real fast, the moment was VERY fleeting ! I just felt that HDR helped out with the moodiness of the glowering weather !
P.S. Yep, I got VERY wet feet getting this shot ! IT was worth it !

NEEDS to be viewed LARGE to get the detail !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huge apologies for not being on Flickr the past few evenings, and not commenting on your work, but I am back now and will do my best to catch up with you all !
My latest offering is a departure from my normal scenics. Sometimes I feel like doing, and looking , at something different ! I have been playing around with textures, which I have to say, is great fun , though I am no expert. There are many Flickr members who are an inspiration in this field, true artists.
Isn't it wonderful what we can do with our precious photographs these days ?!

Broadford Bay from the Kylerhea road, Isle of Skye, Scotland.

If you don't like the idea of crossing over to The Isle of Skye via the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh, the more romantic alternative lies in taking the ferry from Glenelg to Kylerhea. I personally think you will be hard pressed to find a better introduction to this magical isle, since you will travel over the Mam Ratagan pass, with it's tremendous views of the Five Sisters of Kintail, pure magic the whole journey ! The added bonus, you might well spot wild Otters on the shoreline.
